For a brand defined for over a decade by restraint and self-sufficiency, Celine has just made a first: partnering with an outside footwear label for the very first time. The house’s last collaborative project of any kind dated back to a 2010 eyewear licensing deal. Now, under new creative director Michael Rider, Celine has teamed up with Reebok, and the result is already one of the most talked-about releases of the fashion season.
The collaboration was first unveiled during Celine’s Spring/Summer 2027 menswear presentation at Paris Fashion Week in late June 2026, marking Rider’s debut collection as the house’s creative director. The shoe at the center of it all is the Reebok Freestyle, an athletic silhouette dating back to 1982, originally built for the era’s aerobics boom and known through the years for later collaborations with figures like Alicia Keys.
Rider’s take on the Freestyle strips away nearly all of Reebok’s original branding. The signature side logos and the brand’s strike mark are removed entirely, leaving the shoe’s shape to carry the design on its own. In their place, Celine’s own branding appears only in small, deliberate touches: the tongue, heel, insole, and hangtag. The upper was reworked in lambskin leather, given an intentionally aged and distressed finish, while a co-branded tongue label quietly nods to Reebok’s archival Classic logo. The silhouette itself was also adjusted, arriving slightly slimmer than the original Freestyle.
The collection launched in eight colorways: Optic White, Beige, Peanut, Butter, Dark Brown, Fluo Red, Oxblood, and Black, with the Fluo Red edition also appearing on Celine’s Fall 2026 runway. The full lineup, called the Celine x Reebok Freestyle Lo collection, officially released on September 10, 2026, priced at $750 per pair, available exclusively through Celine in women’s sizing. Sold only through Celine’s own channels rather than Reebok’s, the release signals a deliberate luxury-first positioning rather than a broader, more accessible rollout. Several colorways began selling out shortly after launch. A second wave of releases is expected in early 2027, aligned with the label’s Spring/Summer collection cycle.
For Reebok, the partnership arrives during a broader repositioning of its own, following the announcement of Karol G as the brand’s global ambassador alongside a wider relaunch of its Classic range. For Celine, it marks a quiet but significant shift, opening the door to sneaker culture and a younger audience without abandoning the brand’s understated design language. What began as a single silhouette on a Paris runway has become one of the season’s defining fashion collaborations, and by all indications, it’s only the first chapter.
